January 20, 1934 - April 17, 2012

Quincy Alderman Pickett, age 78, of Wallace passed peacefully from his earthly life to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at his home.

He was born January 20, 1934 in Pender County and was the son of the late George and Mable Smith Pickett. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Pickett.

Quincy is survived by his brother, Harry Lee Pickett and his caregivers and friends at Pen-Du Rest home where he has lived for the past 23 years.

Quincy was a man of few words, but when he spoke he meant what he said and everyone took note and listened. He enjoyed living at Pen-Du Rest Home, considering the residents and caregivers his family. He loved helping and was like a shadow to Thomas, one of his caregivers. Quincy enjoyed the singing and Sunday school that is often held at Pen-Du. The staff at Pen-Du made all the years that Quincy lived there comfortable, happy and enjoyable.

A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Pickett Family Cemetery, Little Kelly Road, Rocky Point with Rev. Randall Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery prior to and following the service.
