Larry Franklin Harrell February 13, 2010

Larry Franklin Harrell, age 61, of Burgaw died Saturday, February 13, 2010 following a brief illness at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

He was born April 4, 1948 in Wilmington and was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Myrtle Wells Harrell. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Arlene Harrell.

Larry is survived by his beloved family; daughter, Kelly Harrell Satterly and her husband, Donald Satterly, Jr., of Clayton; granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Satterly of Clayton; and numerous extended family and friends.

Larry served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam Era.

Larry loved his family, his extended family and his many friends. His daughter, Kelly, was the light of his life and granddaughter, Megan, the shining star in his life. Larry was a true friend and often helped others in a very quiet way. A huge part of his life that Larry enjoyed so much was visiting, eating and talking with family and friends. Oh! How Larry loved to tell a good story, spin a yarn or crack a joke. Larry had a quiet, but steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. Surely missed will be LARRY HARRELL; his smile, his caring, his joking and most of all his presence.

The family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw. Following the visitation the memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ted Mercer officiating.

Inurnment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
