Martha Lane Taylor Squires February 22, 2010

Ivanhoe: Martha Lane Taylor Squires, age 74, devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend died Monday, February 22, 2010 at her home surrounded with love by her family.

She was born March 3, 1935 in Bladen Country to Henry Claude Taylor and Elsie Taylor Holland. Remembered lovingly are her husband, Elvin Jackson Squires and her sister, Mary Lee Carter.

Surviving is her caring family; son, Michael “Mike” Squires, Sr. (Cheryl) of Ivanhoe; daughter, Cynthia S. Vestal (Roy) of Bolivia; grandchildren Reggie Norris (Amanda), Regina Hart (Jonathan), Jessecia Norris, Michael Squires (Anna) and Julie S. Lamb (Wayne); eight great grandchildren; sister, Patricia T. Tyson (Jim) of Wilmington; brother, Manfred C. Taylor (Libby) of Jacksonville, FL; brother-in-law, James Carter of Wilmington and several special nieces and nephews.

Martha was a faithful member of Haw Bluff Baptist Church. For the last 15 years Martha was a caregiver to others, touching the lives of the families she cared for in such a warmhearted way.

The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Haw Bluff Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Following the visitation the funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. at Haw Bluff Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Gasque officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Reggie Norris, Michael Squires, Jonathan Hart, Eric Tyson, Randy Taylor, and Wayne Lamb. Honorary bearers will Jimmy Carter, Claude Carter and Rick Skipper.

Heartfelt appreciation to her many friends and prayer partners including June Rooks (devoted caregiver), Lela Robinson, Diane Norris, Peggy Coburn, Kathy Walsack, Hilda Russ, Merten Russ, Maude Harrell, Pat Smith and Rhonda Harvell.

The family suggests that memorial gifts be given to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
