James Harvey Bond, 83, of Watha, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Harvey was born in Pender County on June 17, 1940, the son of William and Addie Bond.
Harvey was a man who truly enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He had a deep love for country music, western movies and antique cars/trucks. In years past Harvey enjoyed hunting and fishing. His passion for these interests was infectious, and he could often be found sharing his favorite songs and movies with anyone he would talk to.
Harvey was a devoted cat owner, he took great joy in caring for his feline friend, Callie. One of Harvey's favorite pastimes was sitting on his back porch with his cat, Callie, surrounded by friends and family, engaging in conversation and sharing stories. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and cherished, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sherry Padgett Bond; children, Tina Bond Teachey (Delton), Tammy Bond Gideons (Bobby), and James Michael Bond (Rhonda); grandchildren, Ashley Robinson, Katie Johnson (Zack), Morgan Bond, Hannah Teachey, Austin Bond; five great-grandchildren, Pierce, Foy, Helen, Lyam, and Lukas; sister, Audrey Richardson (Horace); many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Harvey was predeceased by his very special great-granddaughter, Ella Robinson; and brothers Burnice, Linwood and Ivey Bond.
Harvey leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and warmth that will continue to live on through those whose lives he touched.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverview Memorial Park with Reverend David Knowles officiating and a visitation of friends and family to follow.
