Billie Murray Obituary

Billie Griffin Murray, 73, of Wallace passed from this earthly life to her eternal rest on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center.

She was born on August 25, 1945 in Craven County; the daughter of the late William F. and Essie Marie Griffin. She was also predeceased by her best friend and husband of 17 years, Dulan Earl Murray.

Billie was a member of Poston Baptist Church where she had served as music director as long as her health permitted.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her devoted children, Amanda Hanchey of Wallace, Monica H. McLamb and husband, Robbie of Penderlea and Mark Hanchey and wife, Jackie of Wallace; grandchildren, Joshua McLamb and wife, Brittany, Courtney McLamb and Graham Hanchey; great grandchildren, Kagen McLamb and McKinley McLamb; sister, Linda Hadder of New Bern, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Everett and Gerry Murray of Wallace and numerous extended family and friends that loved Billie dearly.

Billie was a loving mother and caring grandmother, sister and friend. She was the happiest when she was doing simple things like crafts and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Billie was multi-talented which included crocheting, painting and playing the piano. She was a registered nurse who had a big heart and love for others. She spent many years serving others. Billie will surely be missed and treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those knew and loved her.

Graveside service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery, Wallace.
