Debbie (Blanton) Cantrell

Debbie Blanton Cantrell, 62, of Magnolia left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Thursday, February 28, 2019.

She was born June 2, 1956 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Harvey and Thelma Horrell Blanton. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Carter Thompson and sister, Jenny Stokes.

Debbie was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church. She was a 1974 graduate of Wallace Rose Hill High School and later received her associate degree from James Sprunt Community College.  

Surviving to cherish her memory is her devoted daughter, Ashley Thompson and husband, Chris of Wallace; her granddaughter and apple of her eye, Peyton Thompson; sister, Frances Malone; brothers, Clint Blanton, Johnny Blanton and James Blanton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Christy Cantrell; her best friends and canine companion, "Zoey" and feline companion, "Baby"; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Debbie dearly.

Debbie was a loving mother, caring grandmother, sister and friend.  She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family, especially spending time with Peyton. Being a good mother and friend, Debbie was a strong yet gentle presence who was very supportive of her daughter and was a shoulder upon whom Ashley found great comfort and encouragement.  Debbie enjoyed cross stitching, going to the beach and going shopping with Ashley and Peyton. When her health permitted she enjoyed working in her yard.  Most of all, Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family.  She loved them dearly and was loved in return.  Debbie will surely be missed but cherished memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12 Noon on Monday, one hour prior the funeral service at the funeral home. 

Burial will follow the service at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace.
