Edward L. Darden

Edward L. Darden, age 82, of Rose Hill left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Saturday, June 15, 2019.

He was born on April 3, 1937 in Sampson County; the son of the late Harold and Mallie Sinclair Darden.  Mr. Darden was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Jean Pope Darden; his daughter, Debbie D. Garriss and sister, Azilene Price.

Mr. Darden served the town of Rose Hill and surrounding area many years as owner and operator of Ed’s Restaurant.  During this time, he met many people who became his friends and family.  He was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Anthony Darden and wife Wanda, Rickie Darden and wife June, all of Rose Hill and June D. Casteen and husband, Joe of Wallace; grandchildren, Blake Darden, Kyle Darden, Elizabeth Darden, Ginny Hope and husband, Nelson, Jake Rivenbark and Lauren Darden; great grandchildren, JimiePaige Hope, Remington Hope and Kadien Rivenbark; special friend, Grace Sinclair of Clinton and caregiver, Rechell Newkirk of Rose Hill and numerous extended family and friends that loved Ed dearly. 

Ed was a loving father and caring grandfather.  He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was family and friends.  Ed seemed the happiest when he was doing simple things like working in his yard, growing blueberries or riding his John Deere mower. With a green thumb, Ed could grow anything. He enjoyed hunting and just being outside in God’s great outdoors. A quiet man, full of kindness and with great integrity, Ed was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends and family wherever needed. He demonstrated his relationship with God by the  way he lived his life.  Ed will surely be missed but treasure memories will forever live the hearts of those who were blessed to have known him and been a part of his life.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Memorial service will follow at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 18, at Rose Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Steve LeRoux officiating. 

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church on Tuesday.
