Eugene “Gene” Walton Rivenbark

Eugene “Gene” Walton Rivenbark, age 77, left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Monday, December 5, 2016 from Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.

He was born on July 30, 1939 in Pender County and was the son of the late Eugene and Daisy Bowen Rivenbark. Also lovingly remembered is his best friend and wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Wade Rivenbark and brothers, Alfred Lee Rivenbark, Harrison Rivenbark and Warren G Rivenbark, all who preceded Gene in death.

Gene served his country honorably in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. In 1976, he and Elizabeth “Lib” started Gene’s Alignment which was in business until 2015. Gene was a faithful member of United Christian Fellowship Church in Wallace.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his devoted daughter, Mary Beth Rivenbark of Wallace; brothers, Jack Rivenbark and wife, Lois and Mickey Rivenbark and wife, Tama, all of Wallace; sisters, Eloise Wood and husband, Alton of Wilmington and Marshlean Blanton and husband, James of Wallace; special friends and caregivers, Ann Rose Casteen and Farrah Jones, both of Wallace and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that loved Gene dearly.

Gene was a caring husband and loving father and brother that really loved his family. He enjoyed the simplest things in life but his greatest joy was spending time with family. He was a hard worker and developed many friendships over the years at Gene’s Alignment. With an outgoing and witty personality, Gene could talk to anybody as he never met a stranger. He was the happiest when he was doing simple things like drinking a Pepsi or talking with a friend. Gene enjoyed telling jokes, discussing life situations and making people laugh. He was a loyal and devoted man to God, family, church and his many friends. Gene will surely be missed but cherish memories of him will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace Chapel with Pastor Edward Dowd officiating.

The family will receive friends 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the funeral service.

At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Denise Rivenbark Legg, the former home of Mildred Rivenbark and the late Warren G Rivenbark in Wallace.

Burial will be at Riverview Memorial Park following the funeral service.

Casketbearers will be Wrenn Rivenbark, Greg Wood, Mark Wood, Jimmy Blanton, Doug Blanton, Bruce Rivenbark, Joe Lindsey and Ryan Legg.
