George David Spearman

George David Spearman, age 60, of Wallace lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 and is now cancer free and rejoicing with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He was born on April 26, 1958 in Duplin County, NC and was the son of Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Jones Spearman of Wallace and the late George “Buddy” Spearman, Jr.  He was also predeceased by his brother, Andy Spearman.

Surviving, in addition to his loving mother, is his best friend and wife of 36 years, Vanessa Hunter Spearman; their children, Shayna S. Brock and husband, Justin of Knoxville, TN and David Braxton Spearman and wife, Katelyn of Teachey; sisters, Maria S. Likens and husband, Harold of Teachey and Linda Moore Swinson of Maple Hill; special aunt, Nancy Brice and husband, Phil of Castle Hayne and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved David and was loved in return.

David was a devoted son, beloved husband, caring father and brother who loved his family dearly.  With a big heart, he was always seeing to the needs of others and willing to lend a helping hand where ever needed. After his father passed, David was always there for his mother and made sure she was taken care of. He was a people’s person and never met a stranger.  He enjoyed working in the yard,  growing a garden and playing with his toys, his backhoe and Bronco. David loved his Bronco! It was his pride and joy!  Before David’s illness, he enjoyed being a truck driver.  David’s life was dedicated to God and to taking care of his family.  He will surely be missed but treasured memories of him will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved David.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Elmer Hunt and  Pastor Bobby Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the service on Friday at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.
