Jimmy Franklin Bowen, age 74, of Willard left this earthly life and is now in Heaven, in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was born on August 31, 1944 in Duplin County and was the son of the late Robert Lee and Maydell Cottle Bowen. Jimmy was also predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Bowen Health and his brother, Travis Bowen.
Jimmy served his country proudly in the Army National Guard for 6 years and was a hardware salesman who traveled the eastern parts of North and South Carolina until retirement. Jimmy was a faithful member of Wallace Pentecostal Holiness Church where he once served as Sunday School Superintendent and was currently serving on the Administrative Counsel of the church.
Surviving is his best friend and wife of 50 years, Cathy Rivenbark Bowen; his son, Stephen Brian Bowen and fiancé, Kelly; his daughter, Tara Bowen Murphy and husband, Mike; his grandson and “apple of his eye”, Eric Michael Murphy; brother, Robert Lee Bowen, Jr. and wife, Etta Dean of Rose Hill and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends
Jimmy was a loving husband and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. His life was dedicated to God and taking care of his personal family and as well as his church family. Jimmy’s favorite past time was watching Fox News and old TV western shows. He enjoyed “Cathy” his remote lawnmower and would get bent out of shape if she got in the ditch. Jimmy was once a great fan of the beach, as well as hunting and fishing. Most of all Jimmy genuinely loved the Lord and was very serious about his relationship with Jesus. He has fought the fight and has now finished his course. He is forever with His Lord. Jimmy will surely be missed and treasured memories of him will forever live in hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Jimmy's life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at the Wallace Pentecostal Holiness Church with his pastor, Bobby Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends at 1:00pm on Sunday, one hour prior to the service inside the church sanctuary.
Burial will follow the service in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.
