Kevin Dwight Norris

Kevin Dwight Norris, age 46, of Penderlea, passed peacefully as he left this life for his eternal rest on Sunday, February 24, 2019. He was at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.

Born on May 9, 1972, in Pender County, he was the younger of two sons born to Janice Woodcock Norris of Willard and the late Earl Dwight Norris.

Surviving, in addition to his loving mother, is his son, Adam Dwight Norris; his grandson, Gunner Norris, brother, David Earl Norris and wife, Mellisa of Penderlea; his best friend and canine companion, "Buddy" and numerous nephews, extended family and friends that loved Kevin dearly.

Kevin was a loving son and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved all his family.  He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was spending time hunting, fishing and being with family. Kevin was an outdoors man and he enjoyed God's beautiful nature.  With a love for his mother and being the baby of the family, he was the apple of her eye. Kevin was a kind and gentle man  who tended to his own business and was loved by all.  Now Kevin has been set free from the bondage of this insidious cancer and placed into the hands of God. He will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.  

God said you were getting tired

and a cure was not to be.

So He put His arms around you

and He whispered, “Come to me”.

 With tearful eyes we watched you

and saw you pass away,

 and although we loved you dearly,

 we could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating;

 hard working hands at rest,

 God broke our hearts to prove to us

 He only takes the Best.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be sent in memory of Kevin Norris to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC  28401.
