Lewis Welborn Finley

Lewis Welborn Finley, age 69, of Wallace passed away Sunday morning, January 20, 2019 at Vidant Duplin Hospital. 

He was born on October 21, 1949 in Greenwood County, SC and was the son of the late Calvin Emmett and Clara Elsie Hammett Finley.  Also loving remembered is his wife of 44 years, Mary Elizabeth Pitt Finley who passed away on February 22, 2018.

Lewis served his country honorably in the US Navy.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his devoted children, Kris'T Sloan and husband Ben of Wallace, Le An Rich and husband David of Greenville, SC and Jon Finley and girlfriend, Danielle of Wallace; grandchildren, Kaedon Sloan, Sophie Sloan and Griffin Rich and numerous extended family and friends.

Lewis was a good husband and caring father who loved his family dearly.  He had strong morals and convictions that he instilled in his children while they were young.  Being a great storyteller, Lewis could capture your attention while telling his stories.  Hard work and providing for his family were Lewis's hobbies.  He took great pride in making sure his family was taken care of.  He was also independent and traditional in his approach to life.  He was 'Pop-Pop' to his grandchildren and a wise and smart 'Daddy' to his own children.  Lewis will surely be missed but treasured memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.  

Graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha.
