Marcia (Blanton) Buckner

Marcia Blanton Buckner, 79, of Rose Hill left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.                                   

She was born July 6, 1940 in Onslow County and was the daughter of the late John Forrest and Lucy Atkinson Blanton. Marcia was also predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Charles Edward Buckner and her sister, Mikie Watts.

Marcia was a dedicated member of the Church of Pentecostal Gathering, formerly Willard Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving is her devoted sons, Joe Buckner of Rose Hill, Dean Buckner (Robin) of Bolivia, Gilbert Buckner (Terry) of Rose Hill and Tim Buckner (Lee Anne) of Rocky Point; grandchildren, Bryan Buckner (Melissa), Kelsey Buckner and Allison Buckner; brother, Forrest Allan Blanton; special friends, Judy Lucas and Henry and Bonnie Lee Teachey; her grand-canine companions, Toby and Sadie; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Marcia was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family dearly. She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace, “an instrument of God’s love on this earth.”  She was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle and loving presence to all who were blessed to know her. Marcia looked for and encouraged the best in everyone; a shoulder upon whom many found comfort and solace. Most important, Marcia loved her Lord, her personal family and her church family.  She has won the battle, her race is finished, and she is now in the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ. Marcia will surely be missed but cherished memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace Chapel with her pastor, the Reverend Rodney Bonham officiating.

Burial will follow at Devotional Gardens in Warsaw.

Casketbearers will be Joe Buckner, Dean Buckner, Gilbert Buckner, Tim Buckner, Tommy Smith and Timmy Bachelor.

Honorary casketbearers will be Henry and Bonnie Lee Teachey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the funeral home.
