Olive Scott Herring, 91, died at the Brian Center in Eden, North Carolina, on March 2, 2019. She was born in Pender County on August 22, 1927 to Aaron Herring and Ethel Beatrice Scott Herring.
After her mother's death in 1944, she lived with her father until his death in 1957, after which she went to live at Caswell Training Center in Kinston, and later in life moved to Rouse's Group Home in Stoneville, where she had many enjoyable years.
She is survived by her legal guardian, Hazel Flynn Langston Hudgins, and many Scott and Herring descendants, and with a special remembrance to Cynthia Harris of Rouse's Group Home.
Olive will be buried next to her father and mother in the Scott-Peay cemetery on Scott Road in the Rileys Creek Community at a graveside service 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019 with Rev. Will Davis conducting the service.
