Ottis Shannon Maready

Ottis Shannon Maready, 46,  of Wallace passed from this life to his eternal rest on Saturday, August 10, 2019 due to injuries from an auto accident in Duplin County.

Born on October 5, 1972 in Cobb County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Mary Simmons Raffield.

Shannon proudly served his state and community as a NC Highway Patrolman until he retired a few years ago.

Shannon is survived by the love of his life; his wife, Maria Antoinette Maready;  children, Shannon Brantly Scott Maready and fiancé,  Karly, Christopher Adam Murphy and wife, Stephanie, Michael Andrew Murphy and wife, Ashley, Travis Lee Murphy, Tyler Owen Murphy and wife, Crystal, Heather Cole and husband, Tommie and Jonathan English and wife, Danielle;   grandchildren, Langston Gray Murphy, Penelope Rose Murphy, Jackson Adam Murphy, Cambri Jade Murphy, Kynsley Reese Cole, Brody Scott Cole, Keegan English and Wyatt English; step-father, Rick and Teresa Maready and numerous extended family and friends that loved Shannon dearly.                                            

Shannon was a loving husband and caring father and grandfather who loved his family with all his heart.  He was a simple man who never met a stranger and loved people.  He adored his wife, his children and grandchildren, and especially his granddaughters, who were the apples of his eye.  Shannon loved tinkering on his truck, mowing the lawn and eating cereal at midnight.  He was a fun-loving, good hearted man who would do anything for anybody.  With a witty personality, Shannon loved to laugh and make others laugh with him.  He was also an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.  Shannon will surely be missed but treasured memories of him will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. 

There will a celebration of Shannon’s life on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00am at Christian Fellowship Church in Wallace, NC.
