Vera Clark Obituary

DEATH SEPARATES NOT!!!     IT UNITES.

Absent from the body, Present with the Lord.  II Corinthians  5:8

Vera Catherine Savage Clark, of Teachey, a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the age of 76.

She was born on November 25, 1942 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Clifton and Mildred Stroud Savage.  She was also predeceased by her daughter, Karen Clark Davis and her siblings, David Savage, George Savage, James Savage, Charles Savage and William Savage.

Surviving is her best friend and devoted husband of 52½ years, Thomas “Tommy” Leroy Clark of the home; her daughter, Laura Payne of Teachey; grandchildren, Megan Davis, Erica Payne, Christopher Payne, Alexander Payne, Cody Davis and Ashton Davis; sisters, Mildred “Peanut” Skidmore and husband, Stan of Teachey, Dorothy “Dot” Hardison of Wallace and Helen Brown of Teachey and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends that loved Vera dearly.

Vera was a loving wife and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She was married to the love of her life and her greatest joy was taking care of her family and her home.  With a big a heart, Vera spent her life dedicated to helping others.  She loved everybody and never met a stranger.  Vera was a talented seamstress and embroiderer.  As a member of the Hoop Sisters Embroidery Group in Wilmington, she met and made lots of friends.   Using her embroidery talents, Vera made blankets for residents of nursing homes as well as for shut-ins. She was an instrument of God’s love on this earth.  She was a friend to all, a strong, yet gentle and loving presence to all who were blessed to know her.  Vera will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday evening at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Andrews and Pastor Sammy Boone officiating.
