Obituary

Darryl Eugene Marsh, 49, of Wilmington, NC, passed away unexpectedly August 16, 2017.

Darryl was born in Jefferson County, Alabama to Walter Eugene Marsh and Betty Margaret Logan Marsh. He lived most of his life in the Birmingham, AL area and moved from Alabaster, AL to Wilmington, NC about six years ago.

Darryl was a 1985 graduate of Mortimer Jordan High school in Morris, AL where he was a former football player, and in 1986 he attended Samford University in Birmingham, AL where he studied engineering and played college level football as a defensive tackle.

Darryl worked for several years in a steel plant in Birmingham before becoming an entrepreneur with his own contracting business, Marsh Painting. He became a well-known contractor servicing Jefferson and Shelby County for most of his adult life.
In 1995 he met his wife, Laylah, of 22 years and they created a family together with their five children: Ethan (1997), Brayden (2002), Natalie (2003), Gavin (2007) and Chelsea (2011).

He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Margaret Michelle Marsh and his mother, Betty Logan Marsh

Darryl is survived by his loving wife, Laylah Guarnieri Marsh, sons, Ethan Eugene Marsh, Brayden Wyatt Marsh, and Gavin Gabriel Marsh; daughters, Natalie Cara Marsh and Chelsea Anabella Marsh; father, Walter "Gene" Marsh of Locust Fork, AL; and brother, Christopher Lynn Marsh (Penny) of Scotts Bluff, NE.

A Celebration of Life for Darryl Marsh will be held at 2PM, Sunday August 20, 2017 in the Winter Park Baptist Church Sanctuary, 4700 Wrightsville Ave, Wilmington, NC 28403. The family will receive condolences at a reception immediately following the service in Allen Hall.

A graveside burial service will be held at 2PM, Monday, August 21, 2017 in the Marsh Family Cemetery in Locust Fork, AL.
