Obituary

Jeanette James Piner, 86, of Wallace, passed from her earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.

She was born on September 13, 1932 in Duplin County and was one of nine children born to the late Lester and Adell Raynor James. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Marilyn James Benson; her siblings, Caroleen Cavenaugh, Tommy James, Bobby Ray James, Jimmy James, Geraldine Futrell and Betty Rackley.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years, Bruce M. Piner of the home; 9 children, Jo Ann Cole of Wallace, Donnie Cole and wife Linda of Clinton, Dean Cole and wife Pam of Penderlea, Retha Garriss and husband David and Anita Brown and husband J.C, all of Watha, Susie Kelly of Dallas, Texas, Joey Piner and wife, Debbie of Harrells and Bettina Williams of Wallace; 12 grandchildren, Terrie Woodcock, Trudy Benson, Jeffrey Cole and wife Mary, Charles Henry Cole and wife Jennifer, Tommy Dean Cole and wife Heather, Jay Brown, Chad Tullos, Heather Wallish, Nicole Piner, Jessica Williams, Cory Williams, Justin Williams and Amanda Rivenbark; 14 great grandchildren, Joshua and Christina Smith, Mary Ann Benson, J.J. and Jordan Cole, Clay and Caison Cole, Kynsley and Brody Cole, Jackson and Jenna Brown, Henry Tullos, Harper Wallish, Carleigh Croom, Timberly Pierce, Bailey Cavenaugh and husband James and Kendall Rivenbark and wife Kayla; great great grandchildren, Hudson Cavenaugh and Kegan Rivenbark; sisters, Mary Rivenbark and husband, Ray of Willard and Carolyn Moore and husband, Buck of Willard and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Jeanette dearly.

Jeanette was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and sister who dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her family. She was a diligent homemaker and with a joyful spirit she filled her home with love and welcomed all who entered. Her steadfast moral convictions provided an impeccable example for her children, family members and friends over the years. Jeanette was a mother to not only her children, but to many others during her lifetime. With a big heart and compassionate spirit, she was truly "a gift from God". Being a good neighbor and friend, she was loved by all who knew her. Jeanette will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Thursday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Piner Family Cemetery in Wallace, NC.
