Russell Joseph Keefer, 67, of Four Oaks, North Carolina, formerly of Florida, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington following a long illness.
He was born on November 10, 1950, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Russell Lee and Helen Ruth (Givens) Keefer.
Russell, a self-employed commercial fisherman, moved from Florida to Four Oaks 23 years ago. He loved the outdoors, fishing and most of all spending time with his family. Russell will be remembered as a good father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Portia Poole; sons, Russell Keefer and his wife Amanda, of Benson, Joseph Keefer and his wife Sunshine, of Four Oaks; daughters, Billie Jo Keefer Zimmerman and her husband Ronald, of Conyers, Jennifer Rothrock and her husband, Jason, of Lake Park, Georgia, Christine Wilson of Florida, Carolyn Joiner of Florida, Sandy Lucas of North Carolina, Landy Lucas of North Carolina; sister, Ruth Ann Keefer; and 16 grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Blackbeard Campground, at his favorite fishing spot, 6:30 PM on July 5, 2018. Pastor Jimmy Mintz will officiate.
