Obituary

Adelia Marilyn Barnhill Horrell, 82, of Wilmington passed peacefully from her earthly life Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

She was born August 25, 1939 in Bladen County to the late Archie and Docia Moore Barnhill. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Hayes Horrell; brother, Norman Barnhill; and son-in-law, Mark Renn .

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Rosilyn Renn; son, Arden Horrell and wife, Tonya; grandchildren, Marcie Caviggia (Brian), Arden Horrell, Jr. (Ashley), Carr Horrell (Keely), and Cody Horrell (Melissa); 15 great grandchildren; sister, Reba Eakins (David), Miriam Core (Bill), and Kay Beasley (Donald); sister-in-law, Wanda Barnhill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She kept an immaculate home and was a fabulous cook. Most afternoons would find Hayes and Marilyn riding around Wilmington in their famous Jeep. They also enjoyed family camping. One of Marilyn's favorite pastimes was watching birds that flocked to her bird feeders. Marilyn will be remembered as a true Southern lady filled with grace, charm, and a kind word to family and friends.

A graveside service will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Johnson-Barnhill Cemetery where Marilyn will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband of 66 years. The Rev. Carey Horrell, Jr. will conduct the service.  The family will visit with friends at the cemetery following the service.
