Obituary

Aileen Henderson Moore, 91, of Wallace left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from the Brian Center of Wallace.

She was born December 22, 1922 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Marion Tate and Tina Sholar Henderson. She was also predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Jack Moore; son, James "Jimmy" Moore; granddaughter, Stacey Moore; brothers, Claude Henderson and Marion Henderson and half-sister, Isabelle Stoddard.

Mrs. Moore was a dedicated member of Poston Baptist Church.

Surviving are her devoted sons, Jack Wayne Moore of Wallace and Michael Moore of Cary; grandchildren, Courtney Moore and wife, Chantal von Alvensleben of Shanghai, China, and Cody Moore of Chapel Hill; great grandson, Henley Moore; daughters-in-law, Sharon C. Moore of Wallace and Sallie Moore of Chapel Hill and numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Aileen was a loving mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace, "an instrument of God's love on this earth." A friend to all, she was a strong yet gentle and loving presence to all who were blessed to know her. Aileen was always caring about others and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her life was dedicated to God, taking care of her personal family, and also taking care of her church family. Being a hard worker, she worked hand in hand with her husband Jack in their family business, Moore's Seafood and Grocery, for over 25 years. She enjoyed working in her yard planting flowers and making a home for her family. Aileen will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
