Obituary

Albert B. Reeves III, age 89, of Rocky Point passed peacefully from his earthly life on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

He was born December 25, 1922 in Bowdens, the son of the late Albert B. Reeves, Jr. and Sudie Hufham Reeves.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Mary Moseley Reeves and extended family and friends.

Mr. Reeves was a faithful member of Rocky Point United Methodist Church and he served his country honorably in the US Navy during WW II. He received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest College and received his master's degree from East Carolina University. A. B. taught Biology and Chemistry at Long Creek School, Burgaw High School and Pender High School, retiring after 41 years of teaching.

A. B. was a true Southern gentleman always exhibiting honor and integrity. He was a gifted teacher, always challenging and encouraging students to work to their full potential. A.B. had a great love for music, jazz being his favorite. Cherished memories of A.B. will forever remain in our hearts.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. William Braswell and The Rev. John Ormond officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Lowell Mercer, Wayne Ashe, Neil Whitehurst, Dr. Gerald Points II, Stanley Sisson, and Sammy Lanier.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home until hour of the service.
