Alice Octavia Cobb Blanchard, age 87, of Atkinson passed gently from this earth to her Heavenly home on September 27, 2010 at Glenn Care of Pink Hill.

She was born December 1, 1922 in Bolivia and was the daughter of the late Marshall and Alma Bradshaw Cobb. Also lovingly remembered are her husband, The Reverend John Rountree Blanchard, Sr. and brothers, John Gray Cobb and David Thomas Cobb.

Surviving are her son, John Rountree Blanchard, Jr. of Raeford; daughters, Ruth B. Dawson (Jimmy) of Atkinson, Mary B. Horne (Jim) of League City, TX and Sarah B. White of Dandridge, TN; grandchildren, Sherrie Ammond (Rodney), Jonathan Horne, Erin Horne and James Dawson III; great grandchildren, Seth and Jacob.

Octavia was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She was a committed minister's wife and enjoyed every minute of that part her life. Octavia's faith, family and church were the most important things in her life. In her older years after her husband's death she was a caregiver to many. Octavia's sunny smile, joyful spirit and kind manner will always be remembered.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Atkinson Baptist Church with The Rev. Douglas Warnock officiating. Burial will follow in Atkinson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service, 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church.
