Alice Garner Martin, age 65, of Beulaville died Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Reba & Milford Quinn Hospice Care Center in Kenansville.

She was born April 9, 1944 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Thurman James and Lettie Catherine Sanderson Garner.

She is survived by her loving children: Tammy Knowles and Tommy Knowles, both of Beulaville; grandchildren, Amanda Knowles, Brandy Hulbert, Chad English and Tamara Knowles; great grandchildren, Alyssa Howard and Bradley Howard; brothers, Sim Garner and wife, Juanita of Clinton, Allen Garner and wife, DeLores of Wilmington and Terry Garner of Beulaville; special aunt, Edna Harrell of Rose Hill and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Maynard "Bud" Quinn officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service until 3:30 pm at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace.

Alice was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a strong, courageous and yet gentle woman who brought out the good in all those who were near and dear to her. Cherished memories will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
