Alice Elizabeth "Betty" Rabalais, 79, of Rocky Point passed peacefully from her earthly life on Friday, September 27, 2013 at Woodbury Wellness Center.

She was born January 15, 1934 in Currie, the daughter of the late Willie H. and Vera Corbett Croom. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Elson Paul "Frenchie" Rabalais; son, Jeffery Allen Rabalais and brothers, Jimmy and Jack Croom.

Betty is survived by her sons, James Paul "Butch" Rabalais and Douglas J. "Doug" Rabalais (Tilden); daughter, Betsy R. Costin (Randy); grandchildren, Joshua Parker (Anna), Nicolas Parker, Matthew Rabalais (Tracie), Charlie Rabalais, Heather Owens (Harry), Andrea Strickland, and Jessica Costin; great grandchildren, Katelyn, Aaron, Will, Graham, Caroline, Ayden and Banks; sisters, Frances Hanchey and Pat Runko (Vic) and many extended family and friends.

As a teacher's assistant Betty was retired from Pender County School System where she influenced the lives of many youths in a positive manner. Serving as an Elder, joyfully singing in the church choir and praising God for her many blessings, Betty was a faithful member of Pike Rocky Point Presbyterian Church. Betty gave of her time and talents as a charter member of Rocky Point Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and member of W. Dudley Robbins American Legion Post 165 Ladies Auxiliary.

Betty loved her family and was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and sister. First and foremost she loved and served her Lord. Betty's smile and contagious laughter brought light and joy wherever she went. Betty leaves a legacy to each of us: the importance of God, Family and Country.

Memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Pike Rocky Point Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Earl Smith officiating. The family will receive friends following service.
