Alice Elizabeth Murray Simmons, age 85, of Burgaw passed away at Pender Memorial Hospital-Skilled Nursing Care on Wednesday, July 5, 2017.

She was born on February 19, 1932 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Bedford Forrest and Thelma Mae Murray. She was also predeceased by her children, Gary Wayne DeBose and Teresa "Terry" Diane DeBose and siblings, Eunice Murray Mills and Edith Carolyn Murray Fussell.

Surviving is her son, Morris Daniel "Danny" DeBose, Jr. of Del Rio, Texas; grandsons, Jason DeBose and Joshua DeBose; sister, Laurie Lefler of Surf City, brother, Major Murray of Wallace; and numerous nieces and nephews that loved Alice dearly and was loved in returned.

Alice was a kindhearted woman who loved her family deeply. She enjoyed playing cards, going to yard sales and thrift stores; always looking for antiques. With a big heart, full of compassion, Alice was always taking care of others. Alice will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Alice.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend John McIntyre officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Day Spring Assisted Living of Wallace and Pender Memorial Hospital-Skilled Nursing Care for the excellent care that was given to Alice and her family during her stay with you.
