Obituary

Alton Herbert Hyatt, 91, of Wallace passed from this life for his eternal rest on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at the Brian Center of Wallace.

He was born on September 9, 1928 in Dillon South Carolina; the son of the late Stephen and Ethel Quick Hyatt.  He was also predeceased by his son, Alton Gene Hyatt, his siblings, David T. Hyatt and Virginia Hyatt and his special canine companion, Chloe.

Mr. Hyatt served his country honorably in the US Navy for 7 years and then went to work as a lineman for Carolina Power and Light Company where he retired after 40 years.  He was a dedicated and the oldest member of Wallace Moose Lodge.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and loving wife of 62 years, Estalean Mishoe Hyatt; his son, Michael Hyatt and wife, Beverly of Wallace; daughters, Karen Hyatt of Burgaw and Susan Hughes of Benson; grandchildren,  Kelly Bowen and husband, Stephen, Madison Hyatt, Coby Hughes, Pebbles Lynch, Brad Horton, Kricket Hughes, James Hyatt and Brian Hyatt; special neighbors, Gail and Norman Boney and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

"Al", as he was affectionately called, was a devoted husband and caring father and grandfather who loved his family dearly.   He was a wonderful Papa who enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Being a quiet man, Al did not like to be in large crowds of people. He was happiest when he was at home with his precious family.   Al enjoyed westerns, reading, fishing, and hunting, but most of all he loved to mow grass.  He taught his grandchildren how to play games and to love each other.  He will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Alton Hyatt.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at English Cemetery on Stokestown Rd, Wallace, NC.
