Alton "Bap" Rayburn Yopp, age 73, of Wilmington left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Sunday, November 27, 2011 from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 6, 1938 in New Hanover County; the son of the late John Aarron Yopp, Sr. and Ida Murray Yopp.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 49 years, Joanne Watters Yopp; his loving children, Julann Benton and husband Steve and Kenneth "Kenny" Reeves and wife, Karen, all of Wilmington; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Castle Hayne Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Fowler officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Bradley Creek Chapel, 315 Willow Woods Drive, Wilmington.

"Bap" as he was affectionately called was a loving husband and caring father, grandfather and brother. He was the youngest of 12 children with only two siblings surviving. Also known by many as "Santa" as he served others in this capacity for 32 years. Bap loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved "Bap".
