Mrs. Alyce Davis Roberts, age 79, of Rose Hill went to be with Jesus on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from Milford & Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center in Kenansville.
She was born December 1, 1931 in Cumberland County and was the daughter of the late Gleason and Reba Reynolds Arnette. She was predeceased by her late husband, John Roberts; her son, Steve Kornegay and sister, Nell Wade.
She was a dedicated member of Rose Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Roberts leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Mary Lou Batchelor and husband, Murphy Dean of Rose Hill; her sons, Louis Kornegay, Jr. and wife, Diane, Gary Davis and wife, Ruth and James Davis and wife, Kim, all of Rose Hill, Michael Kornegay of Salemburg and Greg Kornegay and wife, Vivian of Bryan, TX. She was also blessed with 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sister, Jeanie Brewster and husband, Jim of Ardmore, OK; step children, Linda, Wanda and Trecia and their families of IL and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Rose Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Reverend Jack Melvin, the Reverend Tim Grady and the Reverend Bruce Hermann officiating.
Burial will follow in Duplin Memorial Gardens, Teachey.
Casketbearers will be grandsons of Mrs. Roberts; Andy Batchelor, Bobby Batchelor, John Dale Davis, A.J. Davis, Shawn Davis and Josh Davis.
Honorary Casketbearers will also be grandsons of Mrs. Roberts; Adam Kornegay, Ashley Kornegay, Matthew Kornegay, Justin Kornegay, Zach Davis and Robert Woodcock.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.
Mrs. Roberts was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandma, "Aunt Alyce" and friend. With a true servant's heart, she served and loved others unconditionally. She was dedicated to her family, church and community and served as a volunteer with Rose Hill EMS for many years. She was a long time employee in the emergency room at Duplin General Hospital. Alyce will be greatly missed, but her legacy of love, service and hope will live on for generations to come.
