Obituary

Amelia Virginia Wilson, age 93, of Hampstead and formerly of Carolina Beach where she lived for 20 years died peacefully on Tuesday, April 06, 2010 at her home.

Amelia was born July 20, 1916 in Amelia County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Charles Franklin McBride and Laura Alice Smith McBride. Remembered are her husband, Wilbert Winfred "Bill" Wilson; sons, Philip McBride and Esmond Wilson; and one brother and three sisters.

Surviving are her daughter, Sherry Wilson Mathis and her husband, Arnold of Hampstead; daughter-in-law, Rose Lee McBride of Fremont; grandchildren, Teresa Boone (Bobby), Larry McBride, Jr. (Teresa), Brian Carter (Vickie), Jennifer Lewis (Kenny) and Douglas Mathis; twelve great grandchildren; many friends and one special cat, Bonkers.

Amelia grew up in Virginia, moving to Randleman, then High Point where she resided until she retired in 1980. Prior to retiring from A. & M. Texturing & Dying, she was the longest employed yarn inspector and was a company first aide attendant. She was a long standing faithful member of Albertson Road Baptist Church where she was a Primary Sunday school teacher for many years. Amelia's devotion to her family, love for her Lord, warm heart and gentle spirit will always be remembered.

Graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010 at Oakwood Municipal Cemetery, 512 Steele St., High Point, NC 27260 with The Rev. Dean Walker officiating.
