Anita Lynn Garst, 57, of Leland, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2024, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 5, 1967, in Wilmington, to Roger and Joyce (Barnes) Garst.

Anita loved animals and would take in strays and even nurse some back to health. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. Anita worked for a drapery company as a seamstress.

In addition to her parents, Anita is also survived by her nephew, Trae Garst; her nieces, Haylei Garst Bruce and husband, Rory, Brooke Garst Jones and husband, Chris; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends.

Anita was preceded in death by her brother, Roger "Bud" Garst, Jr.

Her family would like to thank everybody for their kind thoughts, prayers and for all the food brought to the house.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anita's honor to Paws Place Dog Rescue.

A celebration of life will be held a later date.
