Obituary

A gracious and loving Christian lady, Annette McLawhorn Page, entered her heavenly reward on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the age of 89 while surrounded with love and family.

She was born September 24, 1936 in Greenville, the daughter of Blany Edward McLawhorn and Rachel Holmes Lewis. In addition to her parents, Annette was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Haywood Murphy Page and grandson, Luke Hanson Page.

Annette is survived by her daughter, Ramona Page and husband, Tom; sons, Blany Page and Albert Page and wife, Elizabeth; grandchildren, Jonathan Page and wife, Jessica, Greg Jenner, Thomas Page, Andrew Page, and Anna Grace Page; great grandsons, Jack Page and Oliver Page; several nieces and nephews.

Annette McLawhorn Page, 89, was born in Pitt County and moved to Wilmington in 1946. She was a graduate of New Hanover High School in 1954, and she thoroughly enjoyed growing up in the Wilmington area. In 1958 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College. She taught at Forest Hills Elementary School in New Hanover County Schools from 1958 to 1961. In 1960 she married the love of her life Haywood Page and established their home in Pender County where they started their family. Annette’s joy was her family, and her children were her primary focus during their formative years. Later, she continued to be active in the teaching profession as a substitute teacher in the Pender County School System up until the 1990’s . Annette was an active member at Herring’s Chapel Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was active in the Burgaw Belles Extension Homemakers Club, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Rev. William Hill Pearsall and Pastor Rick Russell conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the funeral service.
