Obituary

Annie Stevens Malpass, age 96, of Burgaw died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Huntington Health Care of Burgaw.

She was born January 26, 1913 in West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Fred and Margie Stevens. She was preceded in death by her husband, William James Malpass; her oldest son, Jesse James Malpass; two brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Malpass is survived by her daughter, Shirley Malpass Harts (Richard) and her two sons, William "Bill" Talmadge Malpass and Daniel "Dan" Dean Malpass. She also leaves to cherish her memory nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Annie Malpass was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and friend. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. As long as her health permitted she loved growing flowers, raising a vegetable garden, and cooking Sunday dinner for family. She was noted for her cooking skills, especially her delectable biscuits. She could never do enough for her beloved family. Cherished memories of Annie will forever remain in our hearts.

The family will receive friends 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw.

Following the visitation on Monday a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Riverview Memorial Park with Pastor Kenny Chinn officiating.

Casketbearers will Annie Malpass' grandsons, Willie Harts, Gregory Harts, Mark King, Mark Ellington and Jake Malpass and her great grandsons, Brandon Ellington and Mark Dean King.
