Anton J. Hoersting of St. Leon-Rot, Germany died Wednesday October 31, 2012 at the residence of his daughter in Wilmington, NC.

He was born February 24, 1929 in Essen-Oldenburg, Germany to David and Johanna Hoersting.

Mr. Hoersting was a coal miner and later a foundry worker with Kolben-Schmidt, GMBH in St. Leon-Rot, Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife and companion of 50 years, Irene.

He is survived by two daughters: Ulrike (Bob) Murray, Ruthild (Mike) Rummell, one son Peter (Ursula) Hoersting, seven grandchildren: Tina Murray, Scott (Meredith) Murray, Robert Rummell, Benny (Marnie) Rummell, Brother Bonaventure Rummell, Andreas (Jutta) Hoersting, Martin (Melanie) Hoersting, three great grandchildren: Amber Rummell, Jacob Rummell and Marcus Rummell. He also leaves two faithful canine companions Bello and Hannibal.

A celebration of life will be held at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Bradley Creek on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Prospect Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, for their caring and wonderful service.
