Arley Andrew Day, 77, of Wilmington, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 7, 1946, in Towanda, Pennsylvania, to the late John and Agnes Stasiak Day.

Arley retired early from the City of Wilmington as an inspector with the Engineering Department to help take care of his twin grandsons. He was a huge Duke basketball fan and a very knowledgeable man, who never met a stranger. Arley, an avid bird watcher, loved all animals, especially his dog and cats.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne Day; his daughter, Tara Day (Sandra); his sister-in-law, Felicia Mellott (Lee); his grandchildren, Devin Day, Augustin Day; niece Demi Wadsworth (Matt); his grand nieces, Berkley Wadsworth, Blakely Wadsworth; and a host of other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Arley was also preceded in death by his brother, David Bruce Day; and his sister, Carol Cobb.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington with Pastor Merrell McKoy officiating.
