Armenius Pigford, age 93, of Willard, left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Monday, July 4, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 12, 1928 in Pender County; the son of the late Kenneith D. and Susan Knowles Pigford.  Mr. Pigford was also predeceased by his siblings, Kenneth Pigford, Donald Pigford, Tony Pigford, Eunice Pigford, Nadine P. Alley and Janice P. Chalmers.

Mr. Pigford served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his devoted and loving wife of 62 years, Phyllis Mills Pigford; son, Mark Pigford and wife Patricia of Willard; daughters, Fran Elaine Pigford and Mary Ann Dalton and husband Ronald, all of Lake Lure, NC ; grandchildren, Emily Sue Pigford Wall and husband Chad, Abigail Jones and husband Brandon, Anna Pigford, Callie Dalton and Ezra Armenius Dalton; great grandchildren, Sawyer Jones, Dawson Jones and Maci Wall;  sister, Christine "Chris" Day of McMurray, PA; brother Raymond "Ray" Pigford and wife Elaine of Colorado Springs, CO; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family that loved Armenius dearly.

Armenius was a great husband and loving father, grandfather, and brother who loved his family with all his heart.  He was a simple man who enjoyed simple things but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.  He was a family man; not only did her love, care and provide for his wife and children, he was a very important presence in their lives.  Armenius was the kindest and gentleness man one will ever meet.  To know him was to love him.   Being an avid outdoorsman and landscaper, Armenius enjoyed flowers and working in the yard when his health permitted.  A man of great integrity, Armenius will be missed by all who knew him.  With his keen sense of humor and charitable spirit, he was loved by all.  Armenius was, without a doubt, a gift from God.  All who knew him were truly blessed.

Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Tommy Blanton officiating.

Entombment will follow after the service at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha.

Casketbearers will be Chris Hill, Cam Chalmers, Henry Lee Washington, Phil Mills, Brandon Robbins and Bart Southerland.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12 Noon, one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
