Arnold W. Marshburn, age 86, of Watha went to be with Jesus on Friday, June 9, 2023.
He was born on January 6, 1937, in Pender County; the son of the late James Isaac and Della Rooks Marshburn. In 2006, Mr. Marshburn was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Padgett Marshburn and his siblings, Dennis Teachey and John Thomas Marshburn.
Arnold was a graduate of Pender High School. He proudly served his country for 4 years in the United States Air Force and retired after 38 years with the FAA/FSS (Federal Aviation Administration/Flight Service Station).
Surviving to cherish his memory is his son Randy Marshburn and wife Sara of Oak Island; daughter, Lynn Crozier of Apex; grandchildren, Robert Marshburn and wife Ricki Marie, Michael Marshburn, Jordyn Putz and husband Zack and Jamie Crozier; great grandchildren, Mia Putz and Carson Marshburn; sister, Gloria Jean Watson of Watha; extended family and friends that loved Arnold dearly.
Arnold was a loving husband and great father, grandfather, brother and friend who loved deeply and was loved in return. He was a hard worker and great provider for his family. Arnold lived his life based on Christian principles and he and Barbara instilled these christian values in their children. Arnold was dedicated to his community and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. With an outhgoing personality, Arnold enjoyed people and never met a stranger. He and Bobbie did everything together before she went to be with Jesus. Some people said they were joined at the hip. There was never a wavering moment in their love for each other and for their children. Arnold will be remembered for his sweet smile, his love for family and friends and his steadfast faith in God. He will surely be missed but he will never be forgotten.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home – Wallace Chapel.
Burial will follow the service at Watha Christian Church Cemetery (was Watha UMC Cemetery) .
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in Arnold's memory to Watha Christian Church Cemetery, c/o Cemetery Fund, 160 Camp Kirkwood Rd, Watha, NC 28478.
