Audrey Elizabeth Benton
Andrews
October 7, 2009
Audrey Elizabeth Benton Andrews, age 85, of Willard finished this earthly journey and joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her husband, Morris on Wednesday, October 7, 2009.
She was born May 3, 1924 in Brunswick County; the daughter of the late James Franklin and Madge Benton. She was predeceased by her husband, Morris Henry Andrews, Sr. and sisters, Estelle English and Marie Hennig.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Wallace.
Surviving are her loving children, Morris Henry Andrews, Jr. and wife, Gloria of Wallace and Joan Andrews of Willard; her grandchildren, Don W. Gurganus, Jr., Jon M. Gurganus, Joshua Gurganus, Amanda Smith, Shannon A. Cox and Craig Andrews and thirteen great grandchildren and sisters, Ruby Theen of Chattanooga, TN and Mrytle Cook of Wilmington.
Mrs. Andrews was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and sister. She found great joy in the simplest things but her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she dearly adored. Being the wife of a former minister and having a genuine love for the Lord, Mrs. Andrews was always involved in the churches where she and her husband served. She taught Sunday school and Training Union, was GA and WM director, played the piano and was a life-long choir member. Being a woman of strong Christian faith, uncommon character, beauty and grace, she was truly "an instrument of God's love on this earth." Audrey has reached her heavenly home but one can be sure that her legacy will live on forever in the lives of those she loved and touched.
Memorial service will be 12 Noon Saturday, October 10, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Wallace with the Rev. Dr. Jim Baldwin officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Morris Andrews Sunday School Class.
Immediately following the memorial service everyone is invited to share food and a time of fellowship with the Andrews family in the church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Audrey's family will receive friends at the home place.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Andrews requested that memorial gifts be sent to the Music Ministry or Senior Ministry of First Baptist Church of Wallace, 408 W. Main Street, Wallace, NC 28466.
