Augustus Lee Turner, age 72 of Shreveport, Louisiana and formerly of Atkinson died Saturday, December 27, 2008 in Bossier City, Louisiana.

He was born January 3, 1936 in Atkinson and was the son of the late Lonnie J. and Henrietta Turner. He was also predeceased by his wife, Beverly Jeanne Turner.

Surviving are his son, Russell Lee Turner; daughter, Janet Boyett and her husband, Wesley; brother, Lonnie J. "Jack" Turner and his wife, Benetta of Atkinson; grandchildren, Casey Boyett and Phillip Lee Boyett; nephew, Jason Turner; niece, Allison Meders; and a very special friend, Sue Crager.

After retiring from the US Air Force as an aircraft mechanic, Lee and his wife, Jeanne, made Shreveport, Louisiana their home. Together, with a group of friends Lee and Jeanne formed The Shreveport Americans and Shreveport Steamers. Lee retired a second time from Nabors Energy as a mechanic electrician.

Lee was a loving daddy, adoring "Pawpaw", and a wonderful brother, uncle and friend. He will be remembered for his easy going spirit and his can-do attitude.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana with The Reverend Clarence Chism officiating.

Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2008 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel.
