Austin C, "Bing" Bisbing, age 92, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC.
He was born December 18, 1923 in Kingston, PA the son of the late Austin C. Bisbing and Ruth Good Bisbing.
He graduated from Kingston High school in 1941 and served in WWII as a B-17 pilot. He was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor. He retired from the Air Force Reserve as a Major.
Following his service, he attended Bucknell Jr. College, graduating with a BS in Biology and Physiology. He worked for Lederle Labs as a drug rep and district manager before moving to Chapel Hill and joining Owens Realty, where he was involved in the development of North Shore Lake Forest, Coker Hills, and Stoney Brook.
While in Chapel Hill, Bing was a member of the Board of Realtors and president of the Chapel Hill Country Club. A successful achievement for the Wilmington area was brokering the sale of the Landfall tract to the original developer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Katherine W. "Kathy" Bisbing; Nephews, Ron Roberts (Dana) and David LaCroix; nieces, Judy Grandy and Penny LaCroix- Souto, all of Florida, and nephews, Judson Wallace, Stewart Wallace and sister-in-law, Beth Wallace.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Bernadine Roberts (Gene), Martha LaCroix, and Ruth Van LaVabeke (Joe).
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Frank H. Kenan Chapel in Landfall, 510 Arboretum Dr, Wilmington, NC 28405.
His ashes will be inurned in the Landfall Original Memorial Garden, Scott's Cemetery family plot in PA, and Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Lane, Memphis, TN 38105 or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Cir. Wilmington, NC 28401.
