Monday, May 27, 2024, was the day that my husband and I feared would come. It is with heavy hearts that we received that phone call to hear the painful words that our youngest son, Bailey Alexander Murray Treto, age 24, has overdosed and is no longer on earth with us. I thought we had almost made it through his battle with his horrible addiction. Bailey is now forever free from all his struggles in life. He longed to see his grandma once again. We will miss him terribly and we can't imagine our lives without his presence.

Bailey was born September 10, 1999 in Wilmington, raised in Burgaw, NC, and graduated from Pender High School in 2017. Bailey was very sweet, smart, and had the brightest smile. He loved to make people laugh and help others who were in need even when he needed the help at times more than they did. Bailey was an avid gamer and his PlayStation from a very young age was a huge part of his life. He was excellent and could spend hours on end playing with friends. He also loved music, basketball, fishing, painting, and shopping for clothes, especially shoes. Bailey most recently had taken on a passion for cooking since living independently in recovery homes over the past year. He loved life and wished his addiction didn't define him to others.

Many may remember last September Bailey shared a Facebook post sharing his struggle with this disease and addiction that was very vulnerable.  Most recently, Bailey had been in rigorous addiction treatment centers with the support of his parents and family since last May. He has been through detox, PHP, IOP, and repeat, IOP, PHP, and several recovery homes over the past year. All of them moving him in the right direction. He thought he would make it to the end of this disease and change his life but God had other plans for him.

Bailey is predeceased by his grandmothers, Teresa Murray and Olivia Treto.

He is survived by his parents, Wanda Murray Treto and Antonio "Tony" Treto; brother, Braxton Treto (Katie); sister, Taylor Treto; nephew, Luke Treto; grandfathers, Kenneth Murray and Manuel Treto; great-grandmother, Agnes Scruggs; aunts, Mindy Treto, Tammy Murray, Kristin Marshburn (Brandon), Brenda Saulsberry (Maleat); uncles, Joe Treto, Victor Treto (Jeanine), Fabian Treto, and Stephen Treto (Jennie); special cousin, Riley Murray; and many extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Chapel Burgaw. Pastor Debbie Murray will conduct the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
