Barbara Anne Deter Boulis, 78, of Burgaw, NC passed gently from her earthly life on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born November 16, 1935 in Hancock County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harold J. and Lillian Gieger Deter. Barbara was also preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Desgrange and brother, Wayne Deter.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert Lee Boulis, Sr.; daughters, Patricia "Patty" B. Struck (Keith) and Barbara Anne B. Roth (David); son, Robert Lee Boulis, Jr. (Beverly); five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, James "Jim" Deter (Sue); sister-in-law, Linda Sue Rayle (Danny) and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara's career as a receptionist and telephone operator spanned many years as she worked at Ohio Bell Telephone Co., C & P Telephone Company, Fairfax, VA City Police Dept., Cape and Fear Memorial Hospital. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Episcopal-Lutheran Church in Burgaw.
Barbara loved with all of her heart and her radiant smile brightened the lives of everyone she knew, including all of her "children" who called her "Hommie". She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who brought joy to many. She was a diligent homemaker and with a joyful spirit she filled her home with love and welcomed all who entered. Being a good neighbor and friend she was loved by all who knew her. Barbara's family is grateful to God for her life and they consider themselves to be very blessed to have had such a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at St. Mary's Episcopal-Lutheran Church with The Rev. Ron Abrams officiating. Inurnment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Saturday in the church parish hall at 1:00 p.m. until hour of the service.
