Obituary

Barbara Brown Corbett, age 60,of atkinson died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle with breast cancer.

She was born January 17, 1950 in Cheyenne, Wyoming and was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Mary Frances Kennedy Brown. Also remembered is her sister, Michaela Kathleen Brown.

Barbara is survived by her dearest and loving family; her husband of thirty-two years, Harold Eugene Corbett of the home; son, Brian Christopher Corbett of Atkinson and sister, Patricia Ann Brown of Oxnard, California.

She was a faithful member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church where she gave of her time and talents. She was employed with DuPont for 28 years.

Barbara fought her illness the same way she lived her life, with an internal strength and sense of purpose, never giving up hope. She valued her family above all else. She was filled with grace, kindness, and thoughtfulness of others. Her sweet smile, gentle spirit, steadfast faith and love for her dear family will always be remembered.

A Memorial Mass will be Monday, May 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church with The Reverend Father Rafael A. Leon Valencia officiating.

Following the Memorial Mass a time of fellowship and sharing will be in the church fellowship hall.

At Barbara's request in lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, 1303 US Hwy 117 S., Village of St. Helena, NC 28425.
