Barbara Janice Murray
Kelly
October 17, 1951 – December 20, 2011
Barbara Janice Murray Kelly, 60, of Penderlea Community went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 after a long battle with many health issues.
She was born October 17, 1951 in Pender County, the daughter of Lillian Chadwick Murray of Burgaw and the late Allison Kenneth Murray. Also remembered is her grandson, David Isaiah Briceňo, who went to heaven in 2009.
Surviving Janice in addition to her mother is her beloved family; her husband of 24 years, Alan Kelly; children, Angie Casteen, Kelly Casteen (David Briceňo), Michael Casteen (Christina Endelezo) and Allison Kelly Bloom (Keith); grandchildren, Emily and Mackenzie Howard, Katelyn Casteen, Selena and Antonio Casteen-Salazar, Eben and Arabella Casteen-Endelezo; great granddaughter, Zaylee Cotman; sister, Debbie Murray (Reuben); brother, Kenneth Ray Murray (Teresa) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Janice, also known as "Jan", was a kind and gentle woman, with a unique ability to figure out anything life sent her way. She was multi-talented with exceptional cooking skills that were shared with the many customers that entered through the doors of Jan's kitchen and catering. Her love for cooking was most evident in her "secret" recipes, especially her "famous cake."
She had a special connection with her Chihuahuas that she bred and sold from Coastal Carolina Chihuahuas, a business she put her heart and soul into for many years. She completed many families with the addition of her four-legged babies.
Janice was a dedicated mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, sister, and friend. Her warmth and tender smile touched all of those who knew her. Her favorite pastime was being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter. She found great joy in the simplest things in life and never wanted worldly things because the love of family was her reward. Janice was known as a "collector of many things." She never bought one of anything. She was very proud of her "treasures" and always reassured her children with, "It will be worth something one day."
