Barbara Kay Wright Scannell, age 67, of Wilmington died Friday, September 14, 2018, at her home.

She was born July 27, 1951, in Jackson County, Alabama and was the daughter of Thelma Gant Wright of Scottsboro, AL and the late Perry K. Wright.

In addition to her mother, Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Vincent J. Scannell of the home; sister, Deborah Wright of Hoover, AL; aunts, Irene Wright, Juanita Powell, Kathy Wondell and Bonnie Henninger; uncle, Glen Gant and dear friend, Pamela Perry. Barbara's uncles, Howard Wright, Homer Wright and J. L. Gant preceded her in death.

Barbara was a faithful member of Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church.

She loved all of God's bountiful nature, especially the beach. Most important in Barbara's life was her beloved family and her steadfast faith.

Following Barbara's request there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Barbara may be made to Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church, 10255 US Hwy 17, Wilmington, NC 28411.
