Barry Douglas Hayes, 63, of Rocky Point passed from his earthly life on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 18, 1950 in Sampson County, the son of the late Hampton Harold and Mary Bowling Hayes.

Barry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda L. Hayes; children, Steve Hayes (Marla), Robert "Bobby" Hayes (Sonia), Tonya Morrison (Todd), Pamela Taylor (Allen) and Tommie Gardner; 17 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother in heart, Jimmy Rivenbark; brothers, Harold Hayes (Carolyn) and Dwight Overby (Kay); and his Pickin Palace family.

Barry worked for many years as a lineman with Carolina Power & Light now Duke Energy. Not only was Barry a wonderful, caring husband, daddy, granddaddy, and brother, but a loyal and generous friend. He was blessed with being musically gifted and enjoyed playing lead guitar with his Pickin Palace family. Barry was a hard worker, loved to fish and enjoyed just being outdoors in God's beautiful world. With a love of laughter and a grand personality, Barry never met a stranger no matter where he went. He brought a great deal of music, love and laughter into this world. His joy in life will not be forgotten

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Rev. Samuel Gore officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
