Obituary

Benjamin Seth Stokes, 67, of Burgaw passed peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2014. He was born October 1, 1946 in Nash County to Luther Benjamin and Maudie Webb Stokes. In addition to his parents Benjamin was preceded in death by his father-in-law, George W. Brown.

Benjamin is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Pamela Stokes; daughter, Mary Ann Braun; sons, Seth Stokes and Robbie Stokes; two grandsons; sister, Gwynn Honeycutt (Larry); mother-in-law, Doris Brown; brothers-in-law, George Brown (Susan) and Joe Brown (Barbara); several nieces and nephews.

Benjamin was a member of Burgaw Presbyterian Church and most recently attended Burgaw Baptist Church. Benjamin was retired after 36 years from General Electric Company Nuclear Division. After retiring he worked part-time for ten years at River Landing Golf Course.

Benjamin was a wonderful husband, father, granddaddy, brother and friend who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He graduated from New Hanover High School where he was a member of the golf team. This was the beginning of a life long love of the game. Pam and Benjamin spent many happy days traveling through out the United States, Cayman Islands and beyond. Benjamin possessed a keen intellect, sharp wit and an engaging personality. Amongst the legacies Benjamin leaves behind are the importance of God, Family and Country.

A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Riverview Memorial Park Mausoleum chapel with the Rev. Nathan Morton officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Burgaw Baptist Church, PO Box 385, Burgaw, NC 28425.
