Bennie Catherine Currie Best, age 94, of Burgaw died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

She was born November 5, 1913 in Pender County and was the daughter of the late Robert Benjamin Currie and Estelle Batson Currie Harrell. She was also predeceased by her husband, W. F. Best and beloved daughters, Elna Kaye Best and Frances Faye Best.

Mrs. Best was a faithful member of Burgaw Baptist Church.

Bennie was a lady of strong Christian faith, a fabulous cook and excelled in crocheting. She was a generous soul and shared all of her talents with her family and many friends.

Survivors include her cousins, Frances (Westbrook) and B. E. White, Mary Moyle, Dorothy and Milton Murray, Nancy Bradshaw, Cleta and George McLendon, Ruth Walker, Elsie Wells, Betty and Walter Barnhill, Louise Incerto, Mary Alice Ward, Darla Nettles, Wright and Sherri Batson and Margaret Holland; step-sisters, Edna Vann Bradshaw and Victoria Teal; step-brother, Charles Harrell; and special friends, Jan Williams, Alice Ivey, Elna Hedgpeth, Flonnie Hood and Nina Chesson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Burgaw Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, at Burgaw Baptist Church with The Rev. Mark Rogers, Dr. Clarence Dodgens and Ms. April Duff officiating.

Casketbearers will be Al Murray, Larry Byrd, Bob Walker, Wright Batson, Jim Murray and Murray Batson.

Honorary bearers will be Dr. Naseem Nasrallah, Charles White, Raymond Fields, Jr., Gene Brown, Norwood Blanchard and Larry Byrd.

Burial will follow in Burgaw Cemetery.
