Bernardina Apolo Murta Carmo, age 84, of Wilmington passed away October 6, 2016 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born January 2, 1932 in Portugal.

Bernardina was a devoted and loving wife and mother who loved to cook authentic dishes such as black beans and rice with chicken. She enjoyed spending time in the company of her family and walking the dogs, Juno and Roxy. In 1999 she was awarded her American Citizenship and has lived in many places such as Portugal, New York, Brazil and finally calling Wilmington her home.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Antonio S. DoCarmo and son, George Carmo and numerous other loving family.

A graveside service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington, NC.
