Bertha Wells, 91, of Watha passed gently from her earthly life to her eternal rest on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Davis Health Care.

She was born January 2, 1923 in Pender County, the daughter of the late Crumpler and Goldie Lanier Wells. Also remembered is her husband, Kenneth Wells; sons, Donald Wells and Philip Wells; and brothers, John Henry, Delmer, Roy and Colton Wells, all who preceded Bertha in death.

Bertha is survived by her grandchildren, Denise Wells Furr (Lenier), Dani Wells Wooten (Casey), and Michael Wells (Juanita); great grandchildren, Jackson Furr, Ryan Wooten, Jensen Wooten, Christian Juillerat, Zachary Wells, Preston Wells, and Justin Wells; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

For many, many years, Bertha was a dedicated member of Cora's Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church

Bertha loved Christ, her family, and all folks that crossed her path in life. Bertha never met a stranger and considered everyone in her wide circle of friends as family. She loved us all through her prayers, through her cooking and through her smiles. Bertha's love, caring, compassion and gentle laughter will always be treasured and remembered.

The family will receive friends 11:00 am until 12 noon on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Cora's Grove PFWB Church with service at 12 noon with The Rev. Lenier Furr officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
